Tamiya Kits....and Honda question

First off, all tamiya kits come with engines? I am thinking about doing the new celica, ford focus rally but making it street, and the Honda accord but making it street too.

Second, just a general question do most of you that build the Honda's that are curbside put engines in them or not? Just wondering because I am thinking of doing a couple of those too from Fujimi and Hasewaga... Thanks guys

None of the Tamiya kits you mentioned have engine in them. Best way to identify whether your Tamiya kit has engine or not is to look at the side of the box, if it shows the engine (ex. Toyota Supra, Nissan Skyline GT-R R32, all Ferraris), then the kit come with full engine detail. Hope this help.

Yeah, I was just talking with someone else, the problem is I cannot find a website that shows the box of the vehicle. So what do people do then, go buy a revell kit and kit bash or just forget about the engine?

id say it depends how ambitious they are. If they think they can do an engine transplant some do. But i would say its not incredible common by any means. You see plenty of curbside kits around here

Tamiya used to make a street version of their race cars. Remember the old Ford Sierra? Volvo 850? Jaguar MK II?
What happened to those people? Why did they give up this nice tradition? Which sense does it make to invest in research and tool making to make one kit instead of two?
Is their a particular reason for this? I cannot imagine there is no market for the street versions of such popular cars.
I bought the Hasegawa Ford Focus with the intention to convert it to stock, but I discovered it is not a trivial task at all, at least for one with my limited skills. You need to build a complete interior with dashboard and door panels, new bumpers and some cutting, filling and sanding work. I am curious how do you intend to carry out the conversion.

Tamiya goes cheapskate on all their front engines recent years, ie. only looks good when the lid is closed. For the mid-engines, most do have nice engines.

Well, i dont care so much about the engine thing as far as Tamiya goes but this weekend i saw that Tamiya does a 1/10 Citroen Xsarra R/C Rally car but they dont do a 1/24 kit. WTF????? Why would they pay all the money for liscencing for the R/C not to mention tooling for the body but then NOT do a 1/24 body??????? what the hell is wrong with them? certainly the Heller kit didnt scare them away... did it?
