Fuel

ok, so i got fired about 2 weeks ago, and i've been kinda down... so i decided... i'm going to finish my Fuel system. I've got a Aeromotive AFPR, SS lines, Walbro 255 HP and a rewire kit... i'm thinking 1000cc injectors, because thats what everyone was telling me...I will be runnign a AGP Turbonetics RS49T, With manifold wastegate set up... and as my Sig states... I'm only looking for 400-450 because i dont want to touch the internals untill after i get out of school... i got $400 and something that tells me 1000cc's is over kill... anyone?

Re: Fuel

I'd get the biggest ones you can get cheap. I think 780's will suffice, but that seems like a stretch. I wouldnt go lower that 850's. Definately get DSM link first.

Re: Fuel

1000cc's on that turbo is perfect with Dsmlink. You do infact have DSmlink right?

Re: Fuel

Just lost your job? Just dump all the rest of the money you have into your car! Just playing.

I'm going with 1000cc injectors but I also plan on running a 60trim.

Re: Fuel

With DSMlink there are no percievable drawbacks to running up to 950cc injectors, regardless of the rest of the setup, in my personal experience. I haven't yet run anything larger, but aside from 1000s from RC, there are really only the 1600s from FIC and some other place. The 1600s can now be controlled by DSMlink (adjustment range extended), but I can't comment on driveability.

I'll be going straight to 950s on the EVO, even if I stay on the stock turbo

Re: Fuel

ok, I'll have to get 1000cc's then... i was thinking something more like 880's but that was just a rough guess... alright, one more question, i have the walbro 255HP and was wondering what amperage it runs at? when i do my fuel system install, i'm going to rewire my pump, obviously... and i need to put a fuse in the circuit... anyone know the amp limit for this pump?

Re: Fuel

IIRC, Kevin said they run up to ~20 amps. I dont know though. I dont think you need to worry about a rewire, I think the 255 should do you fine for 400-450 hp.

Re: Fuel

I usually run the standard 30 amp fuse, and 10 or 8 guage wire (though 12 should be plenty).

Edit> It's worth mentioning that the rating of the fuse should match the rating of the wire, or be lower. The fuse is to protect that wire, not the pump The current rating can sometimes be found on the wire (on high quality stuff) or taken from the many charts available online that cross reference guage and length.

Re: Fuel

thanks Kevin! so you think i should get 950's? i'm only looking for a little over 400 WHP on a 50 trim turbo... after that, i'm done with power mods. i still need the car to streetable... but at the same time, fun as hell to drive.

Re: Fuel

I really like the FIC injectors, so yes, with DSMlink, I recomend 950s. Enough for tons of airflow (75 lbs or so?), and with DSMlink, they idle and cruise like stockers.
