Blower motor Resistor or Ignition Starter Switch?
I am having problems that sound very similar to the resistor problems but my
DTRLs go out when switch 1-2-3-4 are used as well as some lights by the ac. What I am wondering is, change both the resistor AND the ignition switch or just the Ignition Starter Switch. Thanks for any further info. |

Check the dash grounds, check for current into the resistor from the switch in the inop postions, the ign switch would affect other accessories besides the blower.

Make sure all the battery cable connections are clean and tight too.

Re: Blower motor Resistor or Ignition Starter Switch?
Sounds like the contacts are carboned up in the ignition switch and harness assembly. Common problem. You have two symptoms consistent with this. The Daytime Running Lights (DRL) acting up and the HVAC blower problem.
You can try a blower motor resistor since it doesn't cost that much and is easier to change than the ignition switch assembly. If that doesn't work then the ignition switch. It is 50/50. Take your choice.

Re: Blower motor Resistor or Ignition Starter Switch?
I had the same problem, lights go out when blower setting was on 1-4. I changed the ignition switch control module and all returned to normal. However now about two months later I'm having problems again.
This time, I have no air blowing on any setting 1-5. I do hear a click sound coming from under the glove compartment area when I switch from setting 4 to 5. Any thoughts? |
