95 Transmission, no 1st or 4th gear

My 95 Grand Prix lost 1st and 4th gear. The check engine lamp is on, but I don't know what code because that particular year you can't do the "count flashing light " method.

What ya'll think, tranny done or just a solenoid problem.

When I put it in reverse there's no slipping, hard to tell when having it in drive, because it's taking of in 2nd gear.

You need the code, trans is in default now, it must be scanned, no other way.

Re: 95 Transmission, no 1st or 4th gear

So if it's a solinoid problem, the trans will go into default? (at Chrysler we called it "limp mode")

Anyway to get it out of default, like disconnect the battery? With a Chrysler you'd just shut off the car, and restart it.
