Red face Engine Swaps wit a side of power

I have a 99 S10 and I wanna know what kind of engines are out there that can be a potential plat form to make big power or at least north of 400hp

Re: Engine Swaps wit a side of power

Get a 400 sbc, with thick cylinder walls at the bottom, and turn it into a hopped up 406. 400hp is easy then, but really more power than you need. I'd stick to 300 or less unless your planing on racing it.

If your truck has a 4.3L it'll bolt right up to the transmission, although you'll need some 2.8L motor mounts.

1. Where can I get one and for how much
2. What kind of transmission should I get since I have a 4 cylinder
3. Forced induction Yes or No

Re: Engine Swaps wit a side of power

Chevy started making 400 small blocks around 72 or 73, and they were used mostly in Van's. I believe some pickups as well.
A Google search will help you find what you want, but this article should give you an idea what the engine build involves

As for the transmission, I personally would use a Comaro transmission. It's up to you weather you use a 5 speed, or run an auto.
