20's on an 89 Brougham

Hey everyone, i just a few questions to ask. My pops friend, who owns an 89 Caprice Brougham, just bought some 20x8" rims for his car. Would we have any problems mounting them to his car? Like avoiding wheel well rubbing and such? Would they required spacers? Thanks in advance.

His car to do whatever he feels like with, but whatever. I am not sure how they'd fit, you'd have to nearly run rubber bands for tires to clear the wheel wells. 28" total diameter tires seem to be the max these cars can use without clearance issues - this would mean his sidewalls would be 3" (to keep around the 26.x" stock diameter) or so, this would kill the ride and the handling of the car without reworking the suspension - and even then it would still ride like a wheelbarrow with a solid tire.

depends on tires as well but my friend has 22s on his 86 with stock everything else with no problems but a shorter turning radius(rubs in front when turning)

I know what you mean. I wouldn't go with 20's, but to each there own. So basically, we'll be able to put them on, but he'll have a short turning radius and handling like shit, unless he has upgraded the suspension. So basically, in the end, they will go on?
