Golf VR6 Hiline 97 - Heated seat not working?

hi, im keen to have a go at fixing my passenger heated seat before i hand it over to VW to fix along with my next service, can anyone provide me with any information of where to begin with this. Also is the Peter Russek workshop manual worth buying, if im not exactly mechanically minded? Does it cater for electrical probs, like this?

Re: Golf VR6 Hiline 97 - Heated seat not working?

first check the fuses under the left dash.

then try swaping the switches.

also feel the relay under the seat and see if it clicks when you turn the heater on.

if none of those work the heater element is bad. Its normally what goes bad on heated seats. The element blows a coil and makes an open circuit in the heater element ( its actually series circuit so if one leg breaks than none work)
