I'll tell you what I tell everyone. You found a great site, now just search and you'll find everything you wanna know. If you're serious about performance then go to www.honda-tech.com and search around there, you'll find more than you need to know.

If you want to learn how to do basic mantineance yourself, go out and buy a Hanes Manual (Civic 1996-2000). It costs around $15 and is great for first timers learning about car mantineance & repair. This forum is also one of the best places to ask questions and get answers - the SEARCH function works wonders too.

Screw a haynes...spend the $$ and get a Helms. A Helms is a factory repair manual and MUCH more in-depth than a Haynes. First mod should be to buy a helms.

www.helminc.com

As for books...there are quiet a few I can recommend. I'll post some up for you when I'm not in such a hurry.

I have a Haynes and it sucks. I also have a 96 Civic LX!! Its a good car to learn how to do everything on. Good luck with it.
