96 Explorer No Power to Windows
I have no voltage to the master switch on a 4dr 96 Explorer. I have replaced the relay and verified voltage leaving on pin 30. I have followed most of the troubleshooting procedures that I have access to and don't think it is the master switch. Is there a way to test the GEM without an NGS tester? Any help would be appreciated. Could the ignition switch, which is sloppy, cause this problem?

Re: 96 Explorer No Power to Windows
I have a 98 and I believe they are wired the same. Once the 12 volts leaves the relay it passes through 2 connectors and 2 splices. 1 connector (C212) is listed as being
near the LH corner of I/P, near cowl panel grommet. The second (C245) is attached to the kick panel on the LH side of vehicle. I believe that one is near the drivers door jam. The 2 splice points: 1 (S259) is near the take out to the relay module and the other (S260) is near the take out to the parking brake switch. I've had a splice issue on mine for the power locks. The factory splice is heat shrinked and all looked fine but when I opened it up, the wires were corroded. The 12 volts is on a light blue wire with a black stripe. It goes from the relay, through splice 259, through connector 212, through splice 260, through connector 245 to Master Switch. Good Luck and I hope this helps. |

Re: 96 Explorer No Power to Windows
Thanks, that is what it looked like from the schematic. I would have checked the splices as a last resort but will check them out now before buying any addtional electronics.
