Re: idle control problem

is it fuel injected engine(im guessing it is) i got a 91 sunbird and it has carberator on it. so im not quite sure where it would be so i would take a guess http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBr...NENT+LOCATIONS

IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE
On your 1996 PONTIAC SUNFIRE, the IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE is:
UNDER HOOD, CENTER, REAR ENGINE AREA, FRONT OF AIR INTAKE DUCT, MOUNTED ON FRONT OF THROTTLE VALVE ASSEMBLY

Re: idle control problem

Carburetor equipped J bodies disappeared after 1982.What might look like a carburetor is actually throttle body fuel injection. The fuel pump is in the gas tank, not mechanical on the engine block.Later J bodies went to MPI,and then SFI.
