96 4.3l V6 engine knock
My truck knocks at idle speed and speeds up as I increase the throttle. I removed the driver side valve cover and found a knicked pushrod on the valved that I thought was making the noise. I replaced both push rods and put new rocker arm kits on for that cylinder. The engine sounds more solid but knocking still present. Also I noticed the other valved around it were not oiling. Any ideas on what I should do next?

Re: 96 4.3l V6 engine knock
Knocking sounds are typically associated with main or rod bearings. The sound will be a dull knock rather than a click or clatter as would be typical of valve train problems. What mileage are we dealing with here?
What kind of oil pressure are you running? Do you have a dash gauge for oil pressure? Even at idle, oil should be flowing out the holes in the rocker arms. mike |

Re: 96 4.3l V6 engine knock
It has roughly 140000 miles on it. The oil pressure usually runs between 1/2 and 3/4 on the gage. Last night I took all the other rocker arms off that side fo the engine and all the other pushrods look good and oil passages look good but the valve train is still not oiling and the knocking noise is coming from the first two rocker arms where I found a knicked pushrod and replaced that one but noise is still present.
