Oil on spark plugs

My girlfriend has a 2000 Dodge neon. Recently there has been smoke comingfrom under the hood. Upon investigation I had found that it was oilgetting on the spark plugs. Does anyone have any idea if this is aproblem that can be fixed? I will be grateful if anyone has a suggestion. She just paid the car off recently and doesn't want to take any chances ofmessing it up permanently.

Re: Oil on spark plugs

Check your valve cover gaskets. They could be leaking

Thanks Zirb, I didn't expect a speedy response from anyone. Glad I stuck around. Will check it out as soon as time and weather allows. Thanks again.

Re: Oil on spark plugs

With the smoke thing it is probley the valve cover gaskets. Look at it real close and you should see oil ozing out of the valve covers. Check the pcv valve. could be all you have to do is clean that. Try that 1st.

It's not the valve cover gaskets, besides there is only one. It's his spark plug tube seals that need to be replaced, but he will have to replace the valve cover gasket also.

Yeah, its your spark plug tube seals. They are underneath the valve cover.

Re: Oil on spark plugs

Well, Thank you all for your info. Sorry I couldn't get back here sooner to let you all know what was going on. It was the valve cover gasket. Just oil running down onto the plugs. I also made sure that plugs weren't wet on the engine side, to be sure the spark pug tubes didn't need to be replaced. Thanks again, my schedule just didn't make it convenient for me to get online and let you guys know what was going on.
