1991 Park Ave.. removing the rear deck/seat
I want to be able to remove the rear deck "velor" (or whatever it is) from there so I can properly mount 6x9 speakers (drill and bolt them to the metal deck). I see that the seat is sort of held in by a clip but I cant see anything else that holds it on.. bolts etc. anyone can point me towards a diagram that will help. Or give me step by step "dummy" instructions.

Re: 1991 Park Ave.. removing the rear deck/seat
*Before you try this, just so you know, the speakers cannot fit on the metal deck unless you mount them on top of the rear deck you're planning to remove. That is why GM mounted the 6X9s so poorly with those annoying little plastic clips that constantly rattle or fall off!*
I had to remove the rear deck from my 92' to have it re-upholstered. There's no need to remove the seats, what I did was pulled back on the seats to where they weren't wedging the edge of the deck into the frame. A standard screwdriver will help here for prying the edge out. Don't worry, there are no clips holding it down. The only thing you'll have to remove is the seat belt (you'll see how, there's a small cut-out for the belt to sqeeze out of) Once both seat belts are removed, it should come right out. It's a tight sqeeze, but but it was very easy to put back in. Good luck! And if you do decide to install the speakers on top of the rear deck, it will look nice with matching covers of the Concert Sound II door panels (I've done that)
