99 Grand am gt big problems

I have a 99 Grand am gt and it has been having more and more problems these last few days. It all started with the car wanting to run about 1000rpm faster then normal, while in park or neutral. Then this morning when I started it, it was running fast even after I had let it warm up for ten min., and as I went to pull out I noticed that it was running a little hot so I turned it off to look under the hood and when I turned it back on it was even hotter. So I turned on the heater to let it cool down and once it reached a normal level I put it into drive and started up the driveway and the trany started to slip. I don't under stand it please help if you can.

Re: 99 Grand am gt big problems

check for vacum leaks on the intake system and around the motor.
Hav you(or anyone else) done any work on your GA lately?
Been loosing any coolant, on the ground or in your oil?

Re: 99 Grand am gt big problems

It turns out that my problems are due to the fact that a mouse decided to build a home inside my airfilter box. Go figure.
