Turbo dump tube question.

I have a 1990 ford probe gt 2.2l turbo that im going to do basic mods on, and since there are not many aftermarket exhausts for this car i thought i might just drill a 1'' hole in the 02 sensor housing and weld a pipe to it that leads to underneath the car.

I know that will make it pretty loud but that's not really something i care about, i just would like to find out what you guys thought about this idea. Ive read a little about it on the dsm websites and they usually say it works fine on there cars. and from what i understand, it is only loud when your at WOT and seeing full boost.

So what do you guys think?

No offense, but IMO-- that's a pretty wacky idea.

Re: Turbo dump tube question.

you want to run a 1" exhaust? Or am i confused? Are you trying to re-route an external wastegate? Why dont you just get straight 3" piping made at your local exhaust shop, and buy a quite straight through muffler.

Re: Turbo dump tube question.

wait no the factory exhaust is like 2'' so i was thinking if you add the extra 1'' the dump tube would make it would be like a 3''.

Budget DSMers do it a lot and its very similar to a 3'' turboback but is very cheap.

.....

dump pipe is called dump for a reason. It vents your exaust when the wastegate is open....drilling a random hole in your exaust is going to majorly rob you of power....

Get a custom exaust, as few bends as possable....leading to a decent muffler. 3in exaust..not tip...piping.

Dont drill random holes...infact...throw away your drill....your safer that way
