Can someone please either explain to me in detail or better yet send me a pic. of the "Set Timing Connector" wire on an 87 Camaro? (the one that has to be disconnected before you can set the timing). The Chilton manual says that it is "usually located under the plastic cover above the heater unit, in the engine compartment." The manual & the sticker under the hood both say the wire is tan with a black stripe. I desperately need to set my timing & I can't find this damn wire anywhere! Please help. Thanx.

Re: Where is the Set Timing connector wire for an 87 Camaro?
For a TPI? Back to the right of the distributor (from sitting in driver seat). there is a very large wire loom back there, it will be a tan (more brown with age) wire with a black stripe that come out of the loom, has a single pin connector on it then goes back into the loom.
If you don't find it there look for the same wire over by the passenger side strut tower, back side of it. |

Re: Where is the Set Timing connector wire for an 87 Camaro?
This is what it looks like in my 89 RS...
![]() And now for a close-up look at the "Set Timing Connector"... ![]() The location of this in your camaro may be different, but the connector and the wire will be identical...also, it will be the only one like it in the engine compartment. This is your target...now go get it!
