Quarter Mile Times for LT-1 cars?

Hey Guys,

First off, I appologize if I stepped on any toes with my comment of the SRT-4 beating a stock lt-1 car. I just wanted to let everyone know where i'm coming from. I used to have a 1995 Z-28 convertable automatic. It had good tires was in mint condition and blah blah, now i never ran it at a track, but raced plenty, beat one of those Bullet mustangs, and other mustangs, bunch of rice, but everytime i would talk quarter mile times with anyone they would be like, low 15's max! It would very litterally come near to fighting, and everyone EVERYONE i ever talked to would blast me with, "maybe a 14.7 with wind to your back and the lightest guy in the world driving". So when the topic came up of a 4th gen lt-1 racing i just used the previous slamming that was given to me. So if you guys would, everyone give me an idea of what they think my camaro stock would have run, thanks guys, and again my appologies!
Jake

Re: Quarter Mile Times for LT-1 cars?

Yours??
Upper 14's if running well.

Good running LT1 cars should be low 14 second cars.
Yours isn't because of two factors. Convertible, and automatic. Both are slowing you down right now.
Get a stall and the auto is no longer slowing you down.

I caught that after I had already posted.
Wasn't worth the edit.

Re: Quarter Mile Times for LT-1 cars?

A 94-97 Trans Am Lt1 will run 14.1 at best, my friend has a 04 srt4, and they are rated 13.9-14, my friend is a good driver but him and a 97 Trans Am raced and they where dead even, until 4th gear where the srt doesn't have all it's power, the Trans Am pulls away by a little. But the LS1 will kill a stock one, My friend brother has a 03 srt-4 and he got killed by a 99 LS1. Even when his bro got Stage 2 the LS1 still stomped him

"Luos" a while back a thread on automatic vs manual was posted and you said auto was better in the track... Now you said the opposite.
Is there really one better than the other?

A built auto is better.
Stock for stock most of the time the manual is quicker/faster.

Stall converter.
Shift kit.
Couple other things. I never really looked into auto's much as my car is a manual.

Re: Quarter Mile Times for LT-1 cars?

i would say it would be to the advantage to have a manual just for the reason of being able to downshift on command but if its a track race the built auto would be the best bet as there is no need to down shift on command.

Re: Quarter Mile Times for LT-1 cars?

just get a manual valve body for your auto trans, it makes your tranny into a manumatic 1st is 1st, 2nd is 2nd, drive is 3rd, your transmission shift when you tell it to, putting it in drive will be third gear, not drive anymore, and you have to manually downshift and upshift, throw in a shift kit, stall, and manual valve body, and you have a solid manual transmission without a clutch...

Re: Quarter Mile Times for LT-1 cars?

like what you said with the valve body thing, that would probly be for drag only.
