99 GR Cherokee stalls

I am new to this forum so excuse me if this has been addressed before. Here is my Problem

1999 grand cherokee 4.0 72,000 miles.
Jeep stalls at random times without throwing any codes. engine can be hot, cold, warm it dont matter.
When engine dies radio stays on so there is still power being applied somewhere in the vehicle.
Fuel pump is good can hear it come on when ignition is put on.
When it stalls sometimes it will start back up immediately other times i have to wait a minuit or two.
battery is good.
from my guess it has to be electrical, i have seen so many people post all over the internet about this but no one really post their final fix.
I keep hearing about a crank shaft position sensor, but wouldnt that make the engine run rough befrore it stalls. It is almost like i take the key and turn the car off it shuts down that smooth.
Also i have seen something about the Auto Shudown Controller fuse that controls the ASD. where is the ASD and could this really be causing my problems......I am at a loss and really dont have the money to just take it to a 5 star dealer and have them replace a lot of needless crap..... sorry the post is so long just wanted some detail put in it....thank you

Re: 99 GR Cherokee stalls

Sounds like it's the CSP sensor you mentioned, I had the same problem, it's a $45 part at Auto Zone, but a real bear (for me) to remove. You'll need a long skinny extension to get to one of the bolts from underneath. Get a Chilton repair manual while there too. It might help to bring in the old unit for comparison, since you never know if someone might have accidently switched it and then find out it's not the right piece.
