Bad Draw
I have a pretty bad parasitic draw. I really dont know where its comming from. I think its from my system. If I leave my truck without starting it for a day its dead. How can I check my system to see if it is the cause.
EDIT: I know this isnt the silvy forum but I figured someone on here might be able to help.

Re: Bad Draw
I work in a shop and we checked my batter, starter, and alt and they are all fine. I think what Im going to do is put a test light on the negative terminal and cable and then disconnect the cable and start pulling fuses...if i pull a fuse and the light goes out then I know that is my problem.

Re: Bad Draw
I have the same draw on my car, i think its because the person who owned the car before me put in a new electric fan and moved all the power wires probably touching them to grounds or cracking them.
It would be better to put the test light on your POSITIVE terminal and touch it to your POSITIVE cable (closed circuit) THEN pull fuses, the fuse boxes run more through red then black so you might have a better chance finding it this way. Hope you find it. |

Re: Bad Draw
They sell draw tester's. Turn off all accessorys and then use each while someone pays attention to the tester. You should be able to figure it out pretty quickly but I would bet alot of money on the system. I know my amp killed my voltage at idle and I had a 140 amp alternator.

Re: Bad Draw
By 'system', did you mean alarm system?
Ive heard that in most cases, the cause of draws like this are caused by: an issue with power door lock systems(usually a relay), aftermarket alarms, under-hood or glove box light staying on, or an aftermarket stereo systems. The most common two are the door lock systems and the aftermarket alarms... Again, this is just what I have heard, I dont claim to be an expert(Im far from it..lol) but if you have to dook for the source of a drain...Ive heard you should start there...

Re: Bad Draw
System is slang for Audio system.
