The CF looks excellent!
I know you said it was SMS, but what style of CF is it? SMS seem to have so many different types...

1/12 Carbon Fiber Twill Weave Black /Pewter Composite Fiber

next update...

not much to show you guys, because I mainly prepared parts like the fuel rail, AN Fittings, Airbox tray and so on.

but a update without pics is uesless so here we go...

misc parts like seat belts, AN Fittings, butterfly clips to secure the spark plugs ready for some paint!

Airbox tray, I enlarged the existing stock locations to 5.5mm which needs to be perfect, otherwise the PP turned aluminium velocity stacks would be misalignment.

and I attached the first wires on the valve covers (the connectors aren't glued yet)

Re: The ultimate project: 1/12 Tamiya McLaren MP 4/6

Nothing really exciting, but I got some more progress pics of the cockpit, the instruments panel is about 90% finished (the switches are from Sakatsu or scratchbuild) and the seat is painted and I gave it a used look. More pics will follow soon (hopefully next week), I am still waiting for some CF decals .

I can only repeat what others have said.... great work!

I especially like the way you have angled the CF in the cockpit.

All the best,
BillyPee

Re: The ultimate project: 1/12 Tamiya McLaren MP 4/6

I did some more detailing on the valve covers. I mainly used the metal parts from the Perfect Parts set!

the valve cover is about 95% finished.

I added some more SMS CF decals to the cockpit and I replaced the seat belt securing hardware with PP parts.
This is the other side of the "leg console" which you saw in one of my last posts... but I'am afraid that it won't be visible when the model is complete

these SMS Decals are awesome, they look different depending on the angle you're looking at it and that was exactly what I wanted. BTW you can see the used look of the seat..
CF almost gold

CF nearly black, the effect is quite hard to photograph but it looks darker in real life

And one more shot of the cockpit panel with the switches but some parts are still left...

here is a small pic (of the real car) to compare

If I understand your post correctly, one of these pics is your part and one is a ref pic. I'll be darned if you can tell 'em apart! It's only the lolly sick that gives the game away!
