1999 Osmobile Intrigue Service Engine Soon

hi, i was driving home from work today and my service engine soon light came on, i got my uncle to check, my tempature gauge was fine, my coolant is fine and my Oil Pressure and Oil is fine, i just got my oil changed about a week ago, is it just that the light came on because it reached a certin milliage and turned on? Is there a way to reset this? This has happend before and as i was going to go get it checked out it turned off. Is there a way to just reset it?

Thanks

mine went off when my car hit a certain mileage 50k, 75k etc +/- 500-1k and then went off also.

You need an OBD2 scanner to read the codes (there is a plug in under the dash by the steering column) Certain auto stores will do this for free. You can get a good OBD2 scanner like Equus for ~$100 or less. My Walmart even sells them now.

The Check engine light for the Intrigue means there is an emissions issue. when the light comes on, there is a codoe. Go to an auto parts store and ask if they will read the code for you and post it on this forum.

Mine went off back in Dec. The code was P0101. My Mass Air Flow sensor trip the light. I cleaned out the air intake box, cleaned the air filter and cleaned the sensor. All has been fine since.

Until you get teh code read, you are simply guessing at the problem.

I bet its the crankshaft sensor. It seems to be particularly cheap/sensitive/finicky, take your pick. Mine does not like cold temps on it so once the weather is warm I don't get any SES lights. I've already replaced it once. Post back and let us know what you found out.
