Car won't go into gear!

Hi all.. I have a 91 Integra RS which ran beauty 3 days ago. Last night I fired it up and the engine sounds great. But it seems as though the clutch is totally gone. I'm sure the break is off because the car doesn't even budge and it sounds just like it's in neutral when in gear. Also, the speedometre will act as though the car were moving when you rev it. The shifter is definately in gear. I know a clutch will slowly degrade over time, not fail all of a sudden like this.. has some bolt or pin come loose somewhere in there; on a connecting rod from the shifter to the clutch?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: Car won't go into gear!

sounds like you have some major transmission problems, are you sitting still when the speedo is giving a reading?

if your sitting still, sounds to me like the diff is turning but no power is going to the wheels..? bad diff?

is it possible to pop out the drive axel from the transmission causing the car to not move when put in gear?

yes. If one of the axles is not "pooped" in all the way the car will not move when put into gear. It will act as if it is in neutral. Also the speedo will still work even though you are not moving.

Re: Car won't go into gear!

but the speed sensor isnt conected to the diff is it? and you have to unbolt the half shaft bearing before you can take the driver side out and i remember the pass side being a beotch to get out even with all the suspension dismantled but i have a dc2 maybe theres a difference but i cant figure the problem being in the half shaft unless you somehow unknowingly quarter shaft it. jack the front of the car up and see if there is a bigger gap in between the trans and one of the axles and then see if the wheels will spin with it off the ground (use jack stands and parking brake) and try all gears

Re: Car won't go into gear!

the speed sensor gets its reading off a speed gear on the differential
