99 ranger 4x4

I have a 99 ranger 4x4 and when you shift it in 4x4hi or low you can hear the transfer case engage and it will gear down in 4 lo but no power to front wheels. If i put it in 4x4 the you can move the front drive shaft a little by hand and each front wheel drive shaft turns also but no pwer to wheels if you try 4x4 the back tires will spin and then a check guage light will come on and not go of till the truck is shut off. Do I need new hubs? Which kind would you suggest manual or auto but which kind of manuals? I'll take any suggestions. Thanks
