Timing chain alignment

95 Grand AM 2.3Ltr. I pulled the timing chain off for a head gasket replacement. I thought I had the chain aligned at TDC. But I don't think so. I aligned the crank sprocket gear with the dot on the block and the cams pins pointed down. I didn't have a Haynes book and I needed to get the head off so I just guessed. I'm now ready to reassemble but how do I know for sure how to get everything inline? What is the best way to make sure eveything is alingned right. Thanks.
