Drivers Window Help
Hey folks,
I have a NEW problem on the wifes car.(95 Lumina) The drivers window will not roll down(power windows). It seems like it wants to come down but will move very little then stops. How hard it it to diagnose and if it is the switch or the motor, how hard it it to change? Is it something i can do myself? Any help would be appreciated |

Re: Drivers Window Help
Try holding the switch down after the window stops moving and open and slam the door while keeping the switch pushed. Mine will freeze in a spot from time to time and this gets it moving again.
I suspect in my case I need to lube the tracks, or the motor is developing a dead spot, but I'm cheap and lazy and won't change anything until it becomes a real PITA. Lift motors are usually pretty easy to change, and self-explanatory, room to work being the only issue. If yours has the "auto down" feature, and it seems like that is cancelling window operation, it could be defective also. I think it's part of the cluster, and just cuts the connection when load on the motor increases as the window hits the stop, making a bi-metal connection click off, like a turn signal relay. I don't know that for sure, but that's how I picture it, and it has that kind of sound to it when it clicks off.
