Gear Ratio
can someone please explain to me a little more about gear ratio here is my cars current gear ratio (i found this stats on a website) so it may or not be correct but yea just let me know what ya think thanks.
It has a 1st gear ratio of 2.48:1; 2nd 1.48:1 and a 3rd gear ratio of 1:1

The different gears just serve as a smooth transition so as to allow for good acceleration at different speeds as well as good mileage at higher speeds. If you're talking about rear end gear ratio then the higher the number, the faster you will accelerate but you will not have as high a top speed. Example: 4.10>3.42 for acceleration but 3.42>4.10 for top speed and better mileage. Hope this helps you out.

i think i understand so if the gear ratios i mentioned above are the ones in my car then its for top end?
