93 tracker one cyl not fire and hesitate

just picked up a 93 tracker 5 speed cheap, but it only runs on 3 cyl right now, also it hesitates sometimes.

i will get more info as soon as i can look it over better but its about -20 outside the last 2 days.

can anyone who knows these give me a good idea where to start?

check spark at each cylinder .check for fuel .if you got that check compression.

if you do have that you may have to check computer.

if i DONT have compression i should check the computer?

no check compression if you do have compression then check the computer.
the computer regulates the fuel and spark.. pre 1995 tracker they used a mitsubishi computer which they had problems with. but i would check compression first.

well i have spark, and the plug looked pretty normal, but like it hasent been fired alot.

i cant seem to locate the injectors, is there 2 or 4? or is it direct injection in the throttle body or somthin?

when i was driving it, sometimes it seemed fine, others it was hesitating bad when i gave it gas and mis firing. im going to compression test it now

well the not firing cyclinder seems to be makin compression, dont have a gauge but i took the plug out and it was poping loud

i took out my ecm to see if i can see any damaged caps or anything but it LOOKED ok.

also the spark didnt seem steady - seemed "off beat" when i held the wire to the manifold

how do i get the cel code? which wires to i short at the harness?

how can i check for fuel at that cylinder? i dont see an injector....

well the cyclinder compression check came up 0 psi... great. now what

which cylinder is it and which motor 8 or 16 valve may need head gasketor a valve job or may need rings does it smoke blue or white. and is it just one clynder with no compression. and did you use a compression gage.
do yuo have a throttle body or multi port injection.you didnot mention that.
multiport you would have an injector at each cylinder on the manifold.
also do you hear the radiator gurgling when it is running . does the engine get hot.

i belive its throttle body injected because i dont see an injector on each runner of the intake.

it doesnt get hot or anything, i used a compression gauge and came up with 0 psi. but i can see the cyclinder moves up and down.

which cylinder is it. the 8 valve motor. i would remove valve cover and check the cam lobes on cylinder that is not firing maybe worn out cam or may need valve job or head gasket.
is the popping louder on the clynder with compression or the same .and what type or reading were you getting on the other cylinders.
