This May Be A Dumb Quesion But In New To The Rx7 scene

the fd engines are in the 3rd gen right? and the fc are in the second gen right? if im correct why do people say that the fc t2 is better than the fd. because i thought twin turbos are better. im confused can someone brake it down for me. or is there a twin turbo kit for the fc engine. i dont know.

Stock the fd will blow a turbo2 away but either could win depending on how well they are modded or what engine they're running.

It's mostly personal opinion. I am trying to get a tII built up, that will push 450 to my wheels. Single To4 turbo.

It all depends, you get better boost out of a Single then a double in my opinion.

People say the FC is better because... well it just is. LoL. No, it's all prefference man.

Much like a 350 to a 351. Know what I mean?

fc and fd are chassis designations

i dont think it is.

i thought the fd would be better but i saw a 3rd gen rx7 with a 13b t2 engine and im thinking why someone would do that if the fd are better. i saw it in the new super street mag it was a pink 3rd gen rx7 but anyhow i heard the fc t2 are better for drifting and thats what im planning for my s4

probably cause the FC 13b's are dirt cheap in japan (so when it blows, find another!)

FD is a chassis, not an engine
the 3rd gen rx7 = FD3S
engine is 13b-rew

Re: This May Be A Dumb Quesion But In New To The Rx7 scene

ok... the 13bre is better than a 13bt in a since that i dont believe mazda would go backwards in rotary technology. in other words, make a new engine, make it faster and better designed than the last... Twin turbo is great for big hp. the sequential turbos on the FD suck though, so twinturbo good, sequential, bad. most ppl switch to single turbo cause its more practical. the fd is better for drifting but not for newbs. (FC= 50/50 weight dis= neutral car=hard to over or understeer) get a fc if youre poor like myself cause when things break (and they will) youre gonna pay big with a FD.

personally I think the RE is the worst of the 2, that's just an opinion. Seen some friend back in BC a while ago with there FD's off the island, and they can't stop bitching about them.

They want there FC's back.

But love the FD body styling.

Re: This May Be A Dumb Quesion But In New To The Rx7 scene

its not the engine thats bad, its the packaging, since theres not alot of space for the heat to escape to under hood of the early FDs

Re: This May Be A Dumb Quesion But In New To The Rx7 scene

Perhaps, since no one else has said it yet, it is because the twin turboed 13b in the FD has a lot more of a bad reputation with it having so many problems compared with the TII's 13b. Blows sooner, much more complex of a turbo system. I almost bought a TII, but I'm too much of an FB guy. That extra weight of an FC just doesn't appeal to me too much, and plus for the price of an S5 I could buy an FB and drop a TII engine in it (which I am going to be using a modded S4 turbo on my '83 12a.)
