Tein "S Tech" Springs?

Anyone use these and do they give a good drop? I'm looking for some springs that will bring my 2000 maxima a lot closer to the ground. Tein seems to have the lowest drop and a pretty cheap cost.

Definitely. But dont drop into pool before checking water level: Trouble ahead if u dont research the suspension geometrical issue.

If u want looks, there are lots intelligent & cheap ways to do it.
If u want chassis performance, there are some cheap intelligent ways to do it. I'd start from shocks, bushings, sway bar. Lastly, for racing, would be drop springs. But the what do I know...

My opinion about stiff rear axle: chariots are not for racing... 3gen has free suspension, great.

Find out the keywords and start googling.

Well I don't really race at all. Every now and then I might dick around on the highway, but nothing major. So I figured springs would be the way to go for me.

My friend who is a mechanical structure CAD designer, bought a real low BMW, real cheap and for a reason. He taught me some issues... He repaired it. What I understood, I will not touch such a vehicle.

If you insist, learn first, dont rush. As u have the knowhow, specs and money, go for it. One issue is that after trimming the vehicle to the fullest, you find out its not desirable to drive in city and/or long distance. It will become edgy, noisy, hard when driven under 100mph etc. But after 100, it will be an unbeatable beast...

Figure out, how often you go over 100? If its always, you live in Münich and need another vehicle Up to a point, nice enjoyable handling is opposite requirement to racing.

My noneducated guess is that 1" shorter, good springs, shock change and a 50c swaybar would be ok. (If your shocks are over 50kmiles, they have lost 80% of performance.)

Re: Tein "S Tech" Springs?

check out this web page. http://www.innerbean.com/housecor/sp..._decision.html

it helped me to decide which spring strut combo to go with. i'm on H&R springs w/ tokico illumina struts. it handes great and not too bad of a sacrifice in ride quality, especially since you can adjust the stiffness of the struts. i like the look that the S-techs give but it's a very large drop at 2.2 inches and i hear the ride quality is shit, and if you have bumpy roads or potholes where you live you WILL bottom out with the S-techs. another thing to consider is what kind of struts you'll pair with your springs. tokico will provide a lifetime warranty on their struts as long as you don't lower the car more than 1.5 inches from stock height, which is what the H&R's give. remember, lower doesn't mean better.

I don't even care about the ride stiffness. I just want a nice drop that will be noticeable. My friend put springs in his 96 max and you can barely tell that anything was done to its suspension, so I just want to get something that you CAN notice.

Have u checked current gap between bumps and skirt?

Nice showcar is good to look at. After first bump-kiss, not so charming: front lips lop like from catfight loser face. Not to worry: everyone takes notice,

Sorry, I don't know what the bumps and the skirt is. I wouldn't think that having a 2 inch drop would make me smack the tops of the fenders though, would it?

If so maybe I'm not dropping my car.

Re: Tein "S Tech" Springs?

you can drop it, just don't slam it to the ground. if you want better handling and shit then lower the car, if you want it just for cosmetic purposes then i'd say leave it alone cuz a with 2.2 inch drop you will scrape your bumper and/or hit your oil pan. i'm only 1.5" lower than stock and i've scraped pulling in an out of parking lots.
