I was wondering if anybody knew what the horsepower specs were cause this thing smoked my 1996 saturn sl2 thats semi built around 165hp or so
i beat the saturn by an easy 4 car lengths im really really impressed this is my first scort ever and it is like new my grandmother used it as a grocery getter since it was new and only drove it like 1000 miles a year until my cousin started driving last year she burnt the clutch out but it was a cheap fix j |

Re: just bought a 1990 gt W/ 52k for $150
from what I have heard from others was that the GT escort carried 120 hp or something close to that, while the none GT's carried a whole 88HP.. I might be wrong though..

Re: just bought a 1990 gt W/ 52k for $150
The 1990 GT was rated by Ford at 108-110 hp around 5500 rpm. It had around 116 torque at 4600, I think. The CFI was rated at 90 hp in 88-90. The 2nd Gen model 1.9's were rated for 88. The 1.8 Mazda engines in the 2nd gen GT's had 120 hp, or 122. The 2.0 SPI's were rated for 110.
The reason why your Escort beat the saturn is simply due to weight...The Escort weighs around 2200 pounds, and the engine is pretty perky for it's 110 hp rating. Just imagine if you built the thing up
