Any infinity gold experts out there?
I have a `99 GC with the infinity gold system with 6 speakers for a few months now. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that the front 4 speakers got real quiet and I had to turn the fader control way up to hear the front speakers, the back 2 sound fine. Sounds really crappy now. I could see if it was the left or right channel but front to back? Doesn`t make any sense to me. Maybe something in the amp under the rear seat? Does it have some kind of wierd fuse setup somewhere I didn`t see? Something is wrong somewhere.

Re: Any infinity gold experts out there?
I have a 2000 WJ with the Infinity system. I am having the same issue. I have contacted several stereo shops and have been told that the reason this happens is because of the way chrysler wires up the amp. The dash speakers have no capacitor wired into them so they blow because all of the low frequency. The front door speakers are wired to play the deep base. The rear door speakers are wired to play all midrange. You will not be able to find factory replacement dash speakers anywhere except for a dealership (expensive) or e-bay. I have seen after-market speakers on the web for $50 or you can buy 1" tweeters with a built in capacitor and mount them with a piece of lauan. I hope this solves your problem.

Did all 4 of your front speakers blow at once? I`m gonna take them out and have a look. thanks

Re: Any infinity gold experts out there?
The dash "tweeters" are full range speakers. The signal is are regulated by the head unit.
When they go, you should hear a distinctive cracking sound - they almost always tear at the foam surround edge. |

The speakers sound OK if I turn the fader way up for the front speakers. I can`t see how all 4 front speakers would blow at the same time.

Re: Any infinity gold experts out there?
same problem happened to me when i installed my aftermarket HU. It seems the Blue wire (which i believe is the power antenae) is also connected to the amp which powers the 4 front speakers. Once i made sure my power antanae was connected for some reason the front 4 speakers came back.... hope this helps in some way.....

Re: Any infinity gold experts out there?
Problem solved! It was one of the wires loose at the amp under the rear seat. I guess the back speakers were fed thru the amp and the front 4 were fed thru the HU only. It`s odd one wire would affect all 4 front. Thanks studious03 for pointing me in the right direction.
