Change My ECU???

So I went to this shop. To get my car tinted and they were tryin to sell me all this bullshit car stereo stuff paint jobs I told them I wasn't into that I like to race. They were like oh you got turb oI was like Yeah but Im preppin my car for it now before I put it on. The asked me what my VAFC was?? I explained cuz I thought they didn't know...Then this dude is like you have too upgrade your ECU before you put a turbo on it. Im like no thats what the VAFC is for it controls my fuel mapping as well as some other things.. He was like no you need to get your ECU "flashed believe me I know I have a STI" I didn't say this but I was like what the f is that supposed to mean. STI come stock turbo newayz Subaru and HOnda are different cars NE wayz. I was told using the VAfc would be fine for me racing staying in the 5-10lbs. boost range. DO I need to get a ECU upgrade like a HOndata or Fuzzy.......... I KNOW its better but do I really have to have it or this guy just tryin to act all bad ass.....Least the tint looks good

Re: Change My ECU???

VAFC won't give you enough control for serious boost. VAFC really just kinda plays with your air/fuel ratio and VTEC engagement. Get your ECU chipped and programmed, and you'll be good to go. If you want a personal recommendation, shoot me a PM and I'll put you in touch with the guy who does my ecu work and programming.

Re: Change My ECU???

VAFC Wont do shit. Get a real tuner like Hondata or crome or uberdata.
