F$@%!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok there is a problem once again with my jeep. as you guys know its been running on hopes and dreams because ive got shot valve seals, and cly #6 is washed out. ive been burning 4 to 5 quarts in a month and ive been pretty good to keep it up. but this damn engine will not break down untill now. it is a 4.0 inline 6 and now i think its met its match. last nite i got in in granked it up and started hearing knocking. i drove and it would get better if i didnt stop and decided its not worth it to drive now so i came back home. a few min ago i pulled the dipstick and saw that my oil is a light peanut butter color. has this engine met its match? what is this a sign of water mixing with oil? do i need a new engine? and help would be awsome

Re: F$@%!!!!!!!!!!!!
well it seems you blew a head gasket or have a cracked head or block. Your oil is peanut butter colored because of coolant in the oil.

Re: F$@%!!!!!!!!!!!!
i kinna thought it would be something like that. hopefully i will only have a crack in my head. i was gonna just buy an oem head and take the old one out and replace. but we think that cly #6 has blow by and i will just have to do a cyl leck down test to make sure. is the car safe to drive or just dont bother?

Re: F$@%!!!!!!!!!!!!
I woudln't drive it. The 242 heads are known to warp and blow head gaskets no real big deal, I would just get a new head and gasket and replace it, doubt that any block damage was done, never really know until you get it apart tho.
The problem with #6 could be like you mentioned above a bad valve seal (Exhaust or intake), which would be fixed with a new cylinder head. I recommend using some seafoam to clean the carbon build up from the pistons and head (if you are gonna get a used head) after replacing, it will clean all the carbon deposits from the combustion chamber especially what ever amount of carbon has built up on #6 piston. If you need instructions for the head job or any other info let me know Joe [email protected] |
