Re: T. Timer basics
What do you guys mean by Recirculate? Not to use an atmosperic one with the wide 'whistle' but one that has a pupe going to the intake? Are those loud and how do they get the sound out if they are? Can you post pictures of the types you know for sure are correct and still sound nice?

Re: T. Timer basics
I apologize about the bad spelling, I was doing a few things at the same time.
Well I really like the ones you linked me to but those are expensive and I don't want to spend that much money. I am mainly looking at the ones on ebay. I bought the car for $950 and I really don't want to add a blowoff valve worth $250 on it. Can you give me a link or links to some BOVs on ebay that would do the job? Thank you for all your help, btw. |

I am running an HKS Type-II TT. I like it it was kinda expensive, maybe around $120, I dont remember it was a long time ago. It has some cool timing features like 1/4, 1/8, 60ft, 0-60. But I really dont think a TT is something that anyone needs. If you driven the car hard let it idle a minute or two (or 5 what ever you feel like) before shutting it off, other wise dont worry about it. I say save the money for more important mods. my

Re: T. Timer basics
95_GSX is right, the stock 1g bov is perfectly fine and works just as good as anything else. Take the money that you were going spend on that stuff and put it towards a downpipe or catback or an intake or something of that nature

Re: T. Timer basics
You are right about the BOV guys. The only reason I wanted one was for the sound when changing gears but I guess that's not so important.

Re: T. Timer basics
I've heard plenty of 1g bov's make loud wooshing noises.

Re: T. Timer basics
Then how come mine doesn't do it?? What do I need to do? Would it start doing it once I raise the pressure to 14-15psi?

Re: T. Timer basics
I started to hear my stock 2g bov after a filter and hard intake pipe.

Re: T. Timer basics
hmm... i am going to have to replace all those things and hopefully it will get louder. I also want to hear the spin louder. A friend of mine has an Audi RS6 (4.2L with Twin-Turbo) and you can hear the turbos spin so nice and loud from pretty far away and his car is stock.

Agreed, I bought a used HKS ssqv BOV for 150 shipped off somebody from ebay..I also was a new DSM'er at the time and wanted to hear the cool swoosh sound, then I found out it was bad for the engine, so I got the re-circulation kit for like 30 bucks...and as a matter of fact, I liked the sound better with the kit... But I wouldn't buy a BOV unless you get a really good deal on one like I did...spend your money on the basics 1st, then worry about the BOV down the road cuz u really don't need it right now. |
