Exclamation 95 camaro 3.4L HELP WITH OVERHEAT!

first time posting so, hello all.
i have a 95 camaro 3.4L ( i know, i wish it was a v8 too) i have replaced both coolant temp sensors, the water pump, radiator cap, and varios other tune up items and the car runs like a dream. however the temp guage climbs to max almost immediately and stays there, but the car is actually running at normal temp. the guy that changed the temp sensors said the one on the driver side of the engine had a cracked wire harness and could be the problem, but after closer inspection it looks fine. unfortunately i noticed he did not use teflon tape on the sensor threads nor did he screw them all the way in. could this be the problem or do i have to shell out the 80 bucks for the new harness. also fans work fine and as i said the temp is normal but the guage says otherwise. PLEASE HELP!.
