86 Fiero Swap
I have an 86 Fiero 2.5L 4Cylinder. I want put in a V6 or V8 wichever would be easier now and in the long run.Can any one give me some suggestions on an engine to put in that wont be very difficult(it will be my first swap).Thanks for any help.

I would say the V6 swap (2.8/3.8) would serve you best as far as driveability is concerned. You can find a nice Series II V6 or maybe, just maybe a Supercharged Series II in a junkyard near your place. I would take the transmission that is with it IMHO.

Oh, you would also need mounts/ECU as well. I know I'm forgetting some things, but those are the bare essentials.

Thanks for the suggestion but can you tell me what car it comes out of and on a scal (Easy)1-10(Hard) how hard will it be.

Swapping engines into an 84 Fiero is (can be) the most difficult. The 84 was not wired for a V6 engine, therefore to swap a V6 Fiero engine into an 84 there are many wiring concerns. It is not a plug and play swap.
Swapping in a V8 requires a kit ( www.v8Archie.com ) to mount the engine to the cradle, also wiring up the car for a V8 and getting a ECM, unless you go carburated. For a first swap attempt I suspect you are in over your head unless you are a skilled mechanic or have one close by.

I'm a definate SC3800 fan. The reliability and performance is fantastic, and there is a considerable aftermarket for the engine. I have about 70,000 miles on my L67. You can find the Series 2 motors (which is the way to go) in 1997 and later Grand Prix GTP, Bonneville SSEi, Buick Park Avenue Ultra, Regal GS, and Riviera. I think that covers it.
As far as level of difficulty, I didn't do my swap. I don't have the talent, tools or venue to do a swap myself. I won't make assumptions about your level of skills, but you will need to integrate the donor car's harness with the Fiero harness, and there is some fabrication of mounts required. There are vendors who sell mounts, and there are vendors who will do the harness for you. It just depends on how much you're willing to do vs how much you're willing to pay. Check out my car HERE
