Just Raced a CObalt!

OK, so i leave my house cause my friend tells me he just got a cobalt for a rental cause they are fixing his car. Anyways, he wants to race, and so i leave my computer and go to a carwash where he was. So as soon as i got there he was already leaving. It was froma 20MPH roll, three honks and vroom, our slow little cars started trying to be fast. I was on hime by a car and a half. When i started hitting 75ish, he started gaining on me! In the end we stoped at around 100, and he was infront of me by atleast half a car.
My car= Stealth SOHC AUTO
His car: Cobalt LS Auto (sohc or dohc???)

I could say if we kept going i would of passed him, but im not sure cause he stoped gaining on me ween he was a little infront of me. Over all im pleased, i mean in a 2006 cobalt with 5,000 miles and i have a 15 year old car with 229,000 miles. At the end a thumbs up was given and im now home ready to sleep

As long as you're happy, that's what counts.

Re: Just Raced a CObalt!

My Exgirlfriend had a Cobalt LS Coupe and I have a 91 RT and I raced her at a red light. It was really enjoying, due to the fact that my spark plug wires that 2 of them were messed up, and everytime I hit 4 grand it was like having no power what so ever, but anyway With about 4 cylinders, I raced non the less. I destroyed her, and it made me feel really happy. I mean, really happy. She thought her car was so hot, and I put it to the test without my stealth even running right. But now, with a Rebuilt Engine, Newer and Bigger Spark Plugs, and Unorthadox Underdrive Pulley Kit with Intake Mass Upgrade should just really make it look worse. I think I would take the SS as well.

Hm, it would be a good race, those SS's are something. They are a feather with balls.

Re: Just Raced a CObalt!

speaking from experience, the cobalt SS supercharged if FAST. Not all SS' are supercharged though, so dont get your hopes up if you beat one that says SS on the back. My buddy has an 06. I havnt raced him yet, but to be honest, im scared. I ride with him all the time, and that thing MOVES. I think it will give my VR4 a run when the time comes, i may even lose, i think its gonna be a drivers race, and hes a better driver than me. In a non-turbo 3/s, i dont think you'll stand a chance.

Re: Just Raced a CObalt!

Are you sure you're buddies cobalt SS is stock??? Those things have been known to run no better than like a 14.7 or so in the 1/4 ...

Re: Just Raced a CObalt!

yup, completely stock under the hood...he just got it 3 months ago and hasnt had the chance to up it yet.

really? high 14s? maybe it feels faster than it is...cars always feel faster when your holding on for dear life in the passenger seat lol...

like i said though, hes a better driver than me, so i still feel it will be a close race. My car did a 14sec 1/4 mile stock 13 years ago...so the times now are probably very similar.

what do you run in the 1/4, pr0ject?

Re: Just Raced a CObalt!

Yea man, I'm sure you'd spank a stock cobalt SS... especially if you practice driving (if you're worried about shifting and launches)...

Re: Just Raced a CObalt!

I plan on going from a 30mph roll or so, since it will most likely be an interstate race. Im pretty sure i got him top end. well, ill post and let ya know how it goes as soon as we get some warm weather here in Upstate.

Re: Just Raced a CObalt!

well if your going from a 30 MPH roll, it'll be in his favor, becuase I'm sure he's got shorter gears, and he's FWD... but none the less, you should be able to take him, especially at higher speeds...
