93 syncro problem

I have a '93 del sol non vtec, sohc. I replaced the tranny fluid the other day. Every time i shift into third gear I hear that god aweful noise of grinding gears. I want to know if it is a characteristic failure of 93 models, or if mine has just been abused. It does have 128 thousand miles on it...
Also, is it true that the 93 model does not have a low gas indecator light?

What weight oil did you put in your trans? And it's true that your 93 does not have a low gas indicator light.

Re: 93 syncro problem

Ok, so it didn't grind before the oil change and now it does, or are you saying that you were trying to fix the grind by changing the trans oil and it didn't work?

Re: 93 syncro problem

Yeah, the tranny was grinding into 3rd, but it needed the axel seals replaced too. I replaced the seals and filled the tranny with new fluid. It still grinds into 3rd.

Re: 93 syncro problem

Then yes, it could very well be the syncros. Before you go buying a new trans, check your linkage. If it's loose or damaged it could not be fully engaging 3rd gear causing the grind.

The light that comes on when your gas is low. Most cars have them, 93 sol's didn't. Oh no, we have to read a guage?!
