95 lhs overheated,then died

last night the car overheated on my way home. checkded under hood, replaced hose, and then friend told me that car is not firing to the spark plug and that allowing the gas to pump. i just got the car three weeks ago and it was running fine. it just overheated and died. when you crank it, it won't turn over. my father was saying something about the brainbox needing repair.please help!
