Custom bending my exhaust

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum, but i was wondering how hard it is to make a custom 3" exhaust for my '87 Z31 turbo. i was going to do an aluminized steel 3" kit with a super 40 muffler, just want the sound, don't care much about the HP cuz i know i could buy something else w/ higher performance gains. but what do i need to buy for the fabrication? possibly a collector flange? any help would be greatly appreciated. I will be mandrel bending the tubing in the shop where i work.

thanks

Cody

Re: Custom bending my exhaust

well depending on how far back you want the exhaust to go (either from off the turbo elbow, or the cat) you'll need either the cat bolt flange, no idea what it is because i don't have the cat anymore, or, if it's off the elbow you'll need the three bolt flange that looks somewhat like a rotor from the wankel engine... you know what i'm talking about most likely..

anyway, bend wise it's pretty easy until you hit the rear axle area which will be a pain, but doable... check out certified muffler for their kits and what they look like.

this is what my turbo elbow back 3" ss with no cat sounds like...

Re: Custom bending my exhaust

no sir, that's on the 86... the 88 is 100% unobstructed from the turbine wheel back

Re: Custom bending my exhaust

ook cool i'll just buy generic adapters for the flange then. i wish i could remove the cat, but this being california, it's not legal for smog.... but it sounds easy enough. what diameter pipe lies between the turbo and the cat?
