Extreme Klunking
This started out as a small klunk that i thought ok its just an old car it makes noises but now its starting to get worse
There is a klunking noise that sounds like its coming from the front on the drivers side. This klunk usually only happens if i go over rough terrain or if i accelerate or brake (not necesarrilly hard acceleration or braking just random). Any ideas?

Re: Extreme Klunking
well it could be a couple things, Ball joints, would be my first guess. I am also having a bad noise froom the front of my 2000. Im pretty sure i have it narrowed to the front differential has gone bad...not a cheap fix...$2500 for just the part from the dealer. thank GOD i can do the labor myself.
for the one that said it makes the noise around turns...if its 4x4 it verry well could be your 1/2 shaft (cv shaft) which is your drive shaft that comes out of your front diff. |

Thanks for the input ill definately check that out. Mine is 4x4 as well and the 4 wheel drive is broken maybe that has something to with it because it klunks around corners as well (although i think it is the vacuum actuator that is the main problem)

Re: Extreme Klunking
Could be the things above such as ball joints, CV shaft, front drive shaft, diff, or look at the rear torsion bar mounts, front sway bar mounts, wheel bearings, caliper slides, shocks, and finally if all those are good, see if the control arm bushings are rotted out, and if any frame welds cracked or broken on the lower control arm brackets. Even a loose fender bolt can cause the clunk or exhaust hitting the frame/body up by the engine/trans if a motor mount broken/separated. Make sure 4wd is disengaging too. Good luck - these noises are fun to find! Search the threads for info on most of the things I mentioned and for help on them.
