'01 Alero Radio Won't Work
I have an '01 Alero that has a non working radio/CD. I have checked the fuse, it is tied in with the trunk release, ( which works fine ) and the fuse is not blown. The back lights work, but there is no display and the CD player will not accept a CD. I have removed the radio and tried installing another one that ( supposedly ) works, and the same symptoms exist.
I've heard that there is a code required to reset the radio that you can get from the dealer, but I don't think my radio is working right to reset it. I heard the display should be showing "ERROR" if it is working and only needs to be reset. Mine has no display at all. I did not get a book with this car, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance. |

Re: '01 Alero Radio Won't Work
The radio backlighting comes from the illiumination system seaprate from main power to the radio. But it sounds like you are not getting 12v to the radio although the fuse may be good. You should check the input voltage and ground at the main connector for the radio. Hopefully the other radio wasn't bad too.
You will not get a Theflock display or code with power to the radio missing.

Re: '01 Alero Radio Won't Work
Thanks for the info, you're right, I wasn't getting 12v to the radio. I found there are 2 fuses, one on the driver's side and the other on the passenger side and the passenger side fuse was blown.
Thanks for your Help! |
