Angry Passat downshift bump

Hi! I have a used passat and when it downshifts is sounds like a motor mount could be broken, but I checked the motor mount and it is good. Could this be a transmissons problem. Can anyone give me some advice.
Thanks Lou Passat.

Re: Passat downshift bump

what year, engine?

04 passat v6 has transmission module update for 2nd to 1st clunk when downshifting.

other than that its normal to feel a clunk like noise on v6's. its kind of like a hollow clunk when downshifting, it makes that noise on all v6 passats i dont know why and neither does vw.

Re: Passat downshift bump

Check if your control arms are good, mine make clunk whenever I rapidly accelerated and quickly removed foot from gas pedal. Originally, I thought it was motor mount. Just raise the front end up and manually move tire and the two upper control arms are right in front of you.
