Re: Amp not working

If you unhook the sub completely, does the amp still go into protection?

Re: Amp not working

any chance you have a volt meter?
have you tried replacing the fuse in the power wire?

Re: Amp not working

No volt meter, but I was planning on buying one today. The fuse in the power wire looks fine, it is a 150A ANL fuse, and the only other ANL fuse I have is 200...maybe I will try it and if it works, get a new fuse for it.

Re: Amp not working

ANL should be fine, sometimes AGU fuses (the glass tube ones) can break loose and just stop working, even though they look perfectly fine from inspection. If that happens the amp will go into protection because of low voltage whether you have subs connected or not, mine did it a while ago and it took me the longest time to trace it down to the fuse. But I've never heard of ANL having that problem, by nature of their design it just shouldn't happen like it can with AGU.

That is what I figured. I will go see if I can get ahold of a volt meter and start checking things. Do you think it could be the rca cables came out from the head unit, or got pinched somewhere?

Re: Amp not working

That could cause it to play for a second and then go out, but it wouldn't send the amp into protection, so I doubt that's the problem.

Re: Amp not working

Hmm. Maybe it just gives a red status light because there is no signal going to it? Ah well, I got ahold of a volt meter, so I'll have to go out and check the wires for it sometime when it's not raining (I hate nebraska)

Re: Amp not working

Wow this is almost 2 years old. It's amazing.
It's even more amazing that I'm actually replying.

Anyways, it was blown, for me anyway. Check that the ground didn't come loose or anything, and if that's the case, I took the cover off of mine and took a look inside, and part of the circutry was black. So yeah, it ruined.

On another note, I've had a nine.1 (www.edesignaudio.com) for a little over a year I believe and have had NO problems at all. 1200W+ into 1ohm, runs about $350. Look into it, you won't be dissapointed.
