Re: 3000gt vs. 240sx

hold on hold on, Lets not talk smack bout the 240s. They are excellent tunner cars and very very diversable. They compete in tons of motorsports that 3000GTs cant touch. They are just different cars thats all.

Re: 3000gt vs. 240sx

well put Musashi! I fully respect you now , congrats. Dont get me wrong, I still love my 240, but the gt is also very fun to drive and Im used to the wight because a 5.0 firebird was my first car, plus like was stated the comforts and looks I enjoy . Well I appreciate all of the coments they all made sense.

Another question i have is how these motors last when properly maintained? My sl is at 140000 right nowi think i can count on it to at least 200000 right? who on here has the most miles?

Re: 3000gt vs. 240sx

ive only got 90k on my vr4...i think theres someone on here who is pushing 300k. Anyways, run good gas/oils and do any maintenence needed and you will have no problem hitting 200k. I beleve there was a thread on how many miles everyone had a few months back...maybe someone can link you.

so, what mods do you plan on doing, if any?

Re: 3000gt vs. 240sx

COOL! 300,000 would be awsome! my 240 had almost 250,000 on it and the motor was still great!

As far as mods go I'm not exactly sure yet, Ive got a sub box comming in that fits in the little space that is between the back seats and the real beggining of the trunk. It holds two tens. so that will be cool to save space.

Now Im trying to figure out if I want to go with an aftermarket intake or just a high flow filter in the stock air box, I tried to reasearch it but nothing came up, does anyone know the differences in gains vs. these methods?

Re: 3000gt vs. 240sx

Also as far as long term, I was wondering if there is a supercharger kit for the 3000gt? id be into that and Im getting 1000 back from taxes so that would be a good start.

Other than that maybye a downpipe and high flow cat, ngk plugs and wires. any coments on that?

Re: 3000gt vs. 240sx

Stock K&N filter will help....but not as much as an actual cone/FIPK.

supercharging a 3/s is not worth it (IMO), its cheaper to do a TT conversion...

as for other mods...everything you listed (plugs, wires, cat/exhaust, downpipe) those are all good ways to get your HP up. Just look at some of the guys on here's signiture and see what mods they have.

Hold on hold on, I wasn't talking smack about the 240. I see your point. I just wasn't impressed at the 240 forum, that is all. I also said they can be fast (as ANY car can be with mods). I just don't really like the car, sorry. Just a preference.

Re: 3000gt vs. 240sx

Alright, I'll look into a TT kit, and see if its doable for me, thanks. I just thought it would be really cool to have a supercharged one, unique and all! but it would be hard to do also. Is it easy to get to the plugs? my old firebird had one against the firewall (it sucked royal donkey testicles)!

i'm pretty sure you can get out of the 12's with 20 grand
you can get low 12's with about 10
