How to pull apart dash?

I need to install a new 4WD switch and want to know if I have to pull the entire dash apart in order to get the the 4wd switch located on the left side of the dash. I don't want to pull the entire dash apart if it isn't necessary.

Thanks

Re: How to pull apart dash?

Most of the dash covers just pull off for access to the switches, but since you didn't give us the year of your Tahoe?????????????

Sorry, forgot the details.

OK: So you should see a line where the dash cover (this covers all the instruments and switches) should come off. You'll have to put the steering wheel all the way down and put the shift lever all the way down. Just start pulling with your fingers from the top and it will pop out from there. After you get that off you should be able to access the switch and replace it. BTW why are you replacing the switch? Just asking 'cause there's lots of posts concerning 4WD problems in the main forum??.....Steve

Re: How to pull apart dash?

I removed the dash and replaced the 4WD switch without a problem.

I replaced the switch because of a 'Service 4WD" light that I've been seeing come off and on for several months now. I 4WD indicator lights would be on and off at times and I've been told that 90% percent of the time you have a 'Service 4WD' light, it is usually the switch.

I haven't seen the 'Service 4WD' light since I replaced the switch, so hopefully this has fixed the problem.

Thanks for the help
