Help Me!
CAMARO freaks i need your help. My sob story goes like this, my 1997 camaro (3.8) which was my first and last BRAND new car has been flooded out by some massive rain we had in California 1 month ago. Well I love this car, it will be passed down to my grand kids. So I bought a 400 small block engine (bored 408) 428 hp, 514 tq, tci transmission, tci torque converter, cross memebers and some other goodies. It is a carberated engine, I will never pass a state inspection in California so it's a good thing I'm an out of state resident. I'm asking if anyone has ever done this extensive of a project before with this generation camaro. What suspension should I get, any kind of proffesional critiacism will help me. I love cars, but unfortunatly never rebuilt one. This is a first and I'm all alone going all in. I've got all the tools maybe more than I need. Money isn't an issue so any product range will do. Looking forward to here from the pros, kev.

Re: Help Me!
more details on the tranny, this actually shouldn't be too hard of a task, just like any other engine swap in a 4th gen, but you'll be eliminating the ecm and fuel injection. i fuel pressure regulator will be needed to reduce the fuel pressure accordingly for the carb. I'm not sure about the instrument panel working or not, someone else will hafta provide that info.

Re: Help Me!
Wouldnt it be easier and doable really to just get some aftermarket gauges? like those big rice tacs, but actually use em?

Re: Help Me!
Stiffen up the chasis via sub frames and strut tower brace and yes, more details but I don't think it sounds like a bad idea. Should come out pretty bad ass.

Re: Help Me!
there have been lots of people before you as far as carbed 4th gens. google it and you should dig up something. like was said a fuel pressure regulator is needed to reduce the fuel pressure to suitable carb ranges. Go to www.spohn.net and poke around there for suspension and other misc parts. You have to get v-8 springs because the stock v-6 ones wont hold the weight. You should be able to do a beefed 4l60e trans which will connect and make your speedo work and the tach should still connect and work(youll just have to find all of the right wires to connect) and all of the temp and oil pressure sensor just hook go right into the block. all of the stock guages should work just fine. One thing I would do is find a guage cluster out of a v-8 fouth gen so that the stock tach will work properly. Because your going from a 6 to an 8 cylinder the electric signal is read differently. Make sure you have an f-body oil pan and.....maybe someone can help you with the wiring as far as ignition and fuel pumps and fan relays go.
