Unhappy 96 camry powersteering fluid leak

Hope you guys can help on this problem. I have a leak that is coming from the rack-n-pinion.It's underneath the drivers side. It looks like it's coming from a port like hole with a big screw on it. It seems to be leaking from the screw threads. I have added Lucas sealent for power steering but that didn't seal this leak. I have checked for leaks thru the rack, pump and reservoir and this is the only leak I see.

Is there a seal kit or do I have to replace the whole rack-n-pinion?Any suggestions?

Cool

Flush the powersteering before the lucas crap does something bad.
I'm not sure which point you're talking about on the P/S unit, but if it's simply leaking past a screw you could always back it out, apply a dab of ultra black RTV, or a plasticizer (Blue loctite) & see if it quits leaking once the sealer dries out. (I'd wait 12-24 hours)

Are you SURE it's not leaking at a pressure tube, or maybe the steering gear boots, or something?

Can you take a picture, or find a diagram of it in the factory service manual & circle it for us?

Re: 96 camry powersteering fluid leak

I have decided to go ahead and replace the rack-n-pinion, and I need some suggestions. Should I buy the parts from toyota dealer or from autozone? Do you guys have a place that I can buy aftermarket parts? I have never done this, do you guys have any suggestions?

I also wanted to ask you guys if I should replace the oxygen sensors? My car has 127,300 miles and I have never replaced any of them. I believe there are 2 or 3 oxygen sensors. Should I get them from the dealer or after market? Thanks for your advice!

I need to replace the rack on my 95 Camry...Going to go to Advance Auto and buy it, hell of a lot cheaper than the dealer I am sure.

You can rebuild the rack assembly.
