Code P0031
2000 MPV, 120 k miles.
This code has to do with the voltage from oxygen sensor #1 on bank #1 (near firewall). With an ohmmeter, I determined the heater circuit was open.
Working on this code on the weekend, no dealer open to sell me a sensor. No local aftemarket parts place had the exact OEM style replacement on the shelf. Heck, they were too pricey anyway ... $165, unbelievable! So I bought the Bosch "universal" unit for $55.
Of course, the "universal" style requires you use the harness connector off of the old part.
The Bosch kit was good enough ... only the info for the Mazda conductor colors only covered up to '96. So some guessing was in order. There were two blacks, one blue, and one white. The two blacks were easy enough ... the heater circuit. I ended up using the blue for signal, and the white for ground.
It seems to work.
