Re: 93 Camry door hinges and trunk lift won't stay open
On my '94 Camry, the doors have 2 hinges, and then a black thing that looks more like a bar then a hinge. I dunno what thats called, but I know thats the thing that makes the door stay open. If its the same for 93, there should be a #3 philips head screw (which is also a hex screw) that you can take off, close the door a little bit to get it half way in (don't push it all the way in, it is very difficult to get back out. After you get it at the half-way point (it should kind of pop to it, try taking it back out just by hand, you should have to pull really hard if you can even get it at all. To get it back, just close the door enough (about half-way) so that bar's screw hole makes contact with the door well again, and you can start to thread the screw, you don't have to screw it all the way to open the door all the way to give you more room. But then you obviously should screw it in all the way, and tight. If something seems wrong wtih that, like there isn't much resisitance with it, you may want to try seeing if there is anything you can do to fix or replace that part. Unfortunately I never took that part all the way off, I've only done the one screw in the door well, so I could take the door off to do wiring repairs.
